“My golf swing is inconsistent or not good enough”

by Jordan on June 25, 2011

The reason why your swing is inconsistent? You’re not aware. Read on and I’ll explain.

How often have you felt this this golfer.

Probably a lot.

Golf is a frustrating sport.

I hear it all the time “my golf swing is inconsistent”.

That’s how the mainstream golf media wants you to feel.

Helpless and frustrated.

Why would they do that?

So they can sell more clubs, balls, magazines, training aids and more lessons.

It makes me upset and sad that some players have lost the belief in themselves.

And that’s the main reason I write.

Because I know there’s another way to become a better golfer. It worked for me. And it worked for many of my students I’ve taught over the years.

Let me explain how you get more consistent swing.

Screw The Manufactures & Publications

Manufactures tell you every year you need a new driver for an “30 extra yards” and “new irons” to become more consistent.

It’s all bullshit.

Golf Magazines have hundreds of technical swing tips that I believe, on purpose, confuse you and make you believe your swing is broken and needs to be fixed with clubs or lessons.

They’re out to crush your self belief.

It’s time to take a stand.

On Monday I posted an audio clip that I recorded from Lee Trevino’s interview on David Feherty’s new talk show on Golf Channel. Here’s that same clip again.

There’s no way you can become consistent if you’re relying on various of swing tips from magazines or playing partners. And we all know that buying a game doesn’t work.

So that’s why you should screw the manufactures. They’re only out to pad their pockets. No matter their advancements in technology, the average score isn’t going down.

Consistency Is Not Perfection

The reason I posted the Lee Trevino club is because it’s the first time I have heard anyone within mainstream golf say that instructors need to stop tearing apart their students swings instead of working with what they’ve got.

If you’ve seen Lee Trevino’s swing you will understand why he says that! It’s one of the most unconventional swings of all time but provided such awesome control and consistency.

As compared with Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy swings, Lee comes nowhere near the positions throughout the swing as those guys do. But he was still able to hit consistent shots.

Many instructors try to change players swings that look much like Trevino’s, into ones that resemble Woods’ or McIlroy’s. I simply try to teach coach the method I deeply believe in which is working with your current swing and letting you, be you.

Throughout the my playing and coaching years I’ve seen many swings and none two are truly a like. Much like our fingerprints which are all different, so are our swings.

Awareness = Consistency

The key within our own unique and natural swings is being able to understand what goes right or wrong when we hit good or bad shot. This can be done by having more awareness during your swing.

I use example of someone walking on a dead flat sidewalk when explaining awareness.

Let’s say you were to wake up after blacking out, falling and breaking your ankle. It sure would be scary not knowing what caused your broken ankle wouldn’t it?

One of the main concepts of Peerless Golf is that you to avoid the blacking out during your swing. Blacking out during the swing is not being aware of what goes on.

If you really want to play better and become more confident with your swing, don’t you think it’s time to learn what goes during the 2 seconds it takes you to swing the club?

They’re four things you need to be aware of throughout your swing to achieve the consistent results you’ve always wanted.

I’ve only written about awareness of the club head/face but I will be discussing the other three. Subscribe to my email updates to receive how you can become aware of the other three elements during the swing.

What Do You Think?

Do you know what goes on during your swing?
